ACCESSIBILITY
Accessibility statement
Shake-on wants everyone to be able to register for an event, buy a ticket and use the event app, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, zoom or other assistive technology. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA, the standard behind EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act.
Updated 7 November 2026
Status: partially compliant
The pages guests use to sign in, register, buy or claim a ticket and manage email updates have been checked and fixed. Other parts of Shake-on have not been fully checked yet, and some limitations remain. They are listed below.
What we checked
In November 2026 we audited the sign-in, registration, ticket, ticket-claim and email-update pages with axe-core in a Chromium browser, at phone and desktop width, in light and dark mode and with six different event brand colours. We also checked the code of the whole app against accessibility rules. After the fixes, the audited pages had no serious or critical findings.
What we fixed
- Organisers can choose any brand colour. Text in that colour is now darkened or lightened automatically, only as far as needed for a contrast of at least 4.5:1, and buttons with white text get a darker fill when needed.
- Grey secondary text meets 4.5:1 in light and dark mode.
- Every guest page has a main landmark and a page heading.
- The ticket quantity control is labelled and announces the new number.
- Small tap targets were enlarged, and dialogs and form labels were made accessible.
- The two-step sign-in code screen works with a screen reader and announces errors.
Known limitations
- The organiser dashboard and the event app have not yet been audited in a browser.
- We have not yet tested by hand with a screen reader, completed the full registration and payment flow with a keyboard only, or tested zoom to 200%.
- Floor plans are visual. Exhibitors and sessions are also listed as text.
- Card payments happen on Stripe’s payment page. Stripe is responsible for its accessibility.
- Content organisers add, such as images, uploaded documents and descriptions, is the organiser’s responsibility.
What we do next
We will audit the organiser dashboard and the event app, test the guest pages with a screen reader and with a keyboard only, and update this statement when that is done.
